Pentti Hakkarainen, the deputy governor of the Bank of Finland, on Monday said there was a widening in growth patterns between Germany and other peripheral countries in Europe.

At the Finland Trade Association in Helsinki, Finland, Hakkarainen said: "The divergence in economic performance between the countries became increasingly apparent. While Germany and its neighbouring countries experienced robust growth, the economies suffering from the debt crisis contracted or grew only very slowly."
