National Bank of Austria - Annual Report (2009)
The National Bank of Austria' s 2009 Annual Report, out in May, showed the central bank made a large profit in 2009 due to its investment in gold.
The annual report revealed that operating profit for 2009 was €318m ($399m) compared to only €46 m recorded in 2008. A large portion of the rise in profits was attributed to the gains in gold, whose price rose 25% over 2009.
