Bank of Canada: Monetary Policy Report April 2009

The Bank of Canada published its Monetary Policy Report for April on Wednesday.


The report noted that Canada's economic recovery proceeded more rapidly than the central bank had projected in January. The central bank now projects that the economy will grow by 3.7% in 2010 before slowing to 3.1% in 2011 and 1.9% in 2012.


Total CPI inflation is forecast to be slightly higher than 2% over the coming year, while core inflation is expected to ease slightly in the second quarter of 2010 as the effect
