ECB: current rates remain appropriate

At a meeting of European Central Bank's (ECB) Governing Council on 4 March, members made a joint decision to leave the key ECB interest rate unchanged at the 1%.

According to the central bank's March monthly bulletin, euro-area annual inflation fell to 0.9% in February, from 1% in January - an indication that price developments remain subdued. Inflation was also expected to remain moderate over the medium term with annual inflation forecasts projected between 0.8% and 1.6% range in 2010 and
