Global rules for regulation or “catastrophe”: Trichet

Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the European Central Bank (ECB), said on Saturday that regulation must be coordinated worldwide to avert the next financial disaster.

Trichet, speaking at a panel discussion in Switzerland as part of the World Economic Forum, made these remarks a week after Barack Obama, the president of the US, unveiled a controversial set of reforms that would see banks barred from trading on their own books.
