Senator who proposed Fed overhaul to retire

The Democratic senator who tabled a bill seeking a reduction in the Federal Reserve's powers will not be standing for re-election. Chris Dodd, head of the Senate Banking committee announced on Wednesday that he would not stand in the senatorial elections this November.

In November, Dodd, a senator for the state of Connecticut, submitted his committee's proposals for regulatory reform in a 1,136 page bill. He called for the Fed's and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) supervisory
