Influential senator wants US supraregulator - report

Christopher Dodd, the Connecticut senator who chairs the Senate Banking Committee, is working on a regulatory fix which proposes replacing America's four financial supervisors with one body, reports out Sunday said.

The New York Times reported that Dodd would propose merging the Federal Reserve, the Office of Thrift Supervision, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Comptroller of the Currency into one regulatory agency.

The solution would appeal to those who regard the US regulatory
