Inflation is not forgotten - ECB's Trichet

Speaking in Tokyo, the president of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, stressed the need to keep a watchful eye on inflation.

The central bank is keeping a close eye on inflation, even as it considers new measures aimed at easing the effects of the financial crisis within the eurozone, he said during an official visit to Tokyo. With this emphasis, Trichet seemed to be responding to growing fears that the various fiscal stimuli being unveiled within the EU could have an adverse impact
