Santomero: Reinventing America's Older Communities

In the speech 'Reinventing America's Older Communities' Anthony Santomero of the Philadelphia Fed called on urban planners and city governments to help slow urban sprawl and work to revitalize Americas older city centers.

Speaking at the opening of a conference on urban renewal, Santomero said for every 1 percent increase in population, there is a rise of almost 30 percent in land development.

"We are not growing so much as we are spreading out," he said in prepared remarks that did not touch on
