Duisenberg may have to extend stay at ECB
The Dutchman is due to retire on 9 July and be succeeded by Bank of France governor Jean-Paul Trichet.
But Trichet may not be able to take up the position as he is under investigation for allegedly helping to cover-up losses at the then state-owned Credit Lyonnais when it came close to collapse in 1993.
