Sarkozy challenges ECB's accountability

Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, is reported to be preparing proposals designed to increase the European Central Bank's (ECB) accountability.

Sarkozy, who has been vocal in criticising the ECB's recent monetary policy decisions, would like the minutes of rate-setting meetings of the central bank's governing council to be made public, according to the Financial Times.
