US bank regulators assess impact of Basel accord

Speaking Thursday 13 November, Fed Vice Chairman Roger Ferguson said U.S. regulators are gathering data on whether the complex new Basel II rules will disadvantage institutions that lend to small businesses, home buyers or consumers. If the empirical evidence indicates a high likelihood of competitive imbalances, he said, "we will review our options for addressing the problem".
