Kenyan shilling weakens further on IMF concerns

The Kenyan shilling extended its decline against the dollar but at a slower pace on Dec 22 amid continued concerns about the future of Kenya's IMF aid programmme, dealers said. The shilling opened the day at 78.45/65 to the dollar falling immediately to 78.80/79.00 but recouped some of the losses and was posted at 78.65/85 by 0900 GMT, dealers said.

"The market is jittery ahead of the holiday. People do not want to be found on the wrong side when we open on Dec 27," said one dealer. The shilling
