Unified accounting rules adopted by EU

The European Commission said it has adopted a regulation unifying accounting rules across the EU from January 2005, with the exception of two disputed provisions, BizWorld reported Thursday 18 November.

According to the report, spokesman Jonathan Todd said the commission would have preferred to endorse the International Accounting Standard (IAS) 39 on financial instruments in its entirety, but the regulation was "still work in progress".
