Japan's lower house approves new BOJ board member

Japan's lower house of parliament has approved the nomination of Atsushi Mizuno, chief strategist at Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Japan) Ltd., as a Bank of Japan policy maker.

Mizuno would succeed Teizo Taya, whose five-year term at the Bank of Japan expires on Dec. 2. Bloomberg News said parliament television showed lawmakers voting for Mizuno's approval in Tokyo on Thursday 25 November. The less powerful upper house was scheduled to vote on the nomination on Friday.
