Increased support for Balcerowicz as NBP president

Former Polish foreign minister Bronislaw Geremek of the Freedom Union [former ruling coalition junior partner with Solidarity Electoral Action] on Sunday announced he would call on all the parliamentary caucuses to support the candidature of Leszek Balcerowicz for head of the Polish National Bank.

"We are convinced that Balcerowicz's candidacy is good for the state and the only argument which may count here is the interest of Poland, Geremek told newsmen. He added that the issue of naming NBP
