Banknote and Coin Circulation Figures - Ireland

PRESS RELEASE - Banknote and Coin Circulation Figures, 8 January 2002.

At close of business yesterday, Monday 7 January, the Central Bank had issued 142 million euro banknotes and 1,007 million euro coins with a total value of €2,781 million into circulation, an increase of €116 million on the previous Friday. The total increase since 31 December is €197 million or 7.6%.

The amount of Irish currency in circulation at close of business on 7 January was £2,616 million, a fall of 12% since Friday (
