Economic outlook is worsening: Fed's Yellen

The United States economic growth outlook has weakened further since the Federal Reserve said that the risks to inflation and growth were balanced in late October, says Janet Yellen, the president of the San Francisco Federal Reserve.

Speaking in Seattle on Monday, Yellen said: "By the time of the October meeting, the data indicated that the economy had turned in a very strong performance in the second and third quarters. However, the fourth quarter is sizing up to show only very meagre growth."
