Philippine central bank head takes one month leave

The governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Rafael Buenaventura, is to leave his post for a short time and seek medical treatment in the United States.

He is expected to be away from the BSP for about a month to receive treatment at the John Hopkins University Hospital in Maryland.

He was reported to be suffering from a thyroid problem which had been diagnosed months ago when he was last abroad. Buenaventura said he would seek treatment at the Maryland hospital as it was
