ECB Monthly Bulletin, September 2004

The European Central Bank published its September 2004 Monthly Bulletin on Thursday 9 September, saying that "strong vigilance" is needed to ensure that inflation slows below 2 percent next year as an economic recovery in the eurozone strengthens and oil prices surge.

"While the economic analysis indicates that prospects are consistent with price stability being maintained over the medium term, a number of upside risks need to be carefully monitored," the Frankfurt-based ECB said in its September
