ECB's Tumpel-Gugerell on global exchange rates

In a speech on 'Exchange rate moves in a global economy: a central banking perspective' given on 3 December, Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell of the ECB said policies aimed at fostering macroeconomic stability should frame discussions between countries, and this will help to smooth moves in exchange rates.

"It is my profound conviction that the best way to limit undesirable exchange rate instability and minimize global imbalances in a sustainable way is by ensuring sound domestic fundamentals," she said
