BIS to open office for the Americas in Mexico City

LATIN AMERICA - The Bank for International Settlements announced on Mar 30 that it is planning to establish a representative office for the Americas in Mexico City. This follows the establishment in 2000 of an Asian representative office.

The negotiations with the Mexican authorities on the necessary legal and administrative arrangements will commence in due course and the office is scheduled to open by the end of 2001. Following the opening of the representative office for Asia and the Pacific
