BIS starts search for Crockett successor

SWITZERLAND - The Bank for International Settlements has started to look in earnest for a new general manager with a committee of senior central bankers outlining the criteria for a successor to Andrew Crockett, a contender to take over the reins at the Bank of England.

At the committee's first meeting, the BIS said on Tuesday it was determined that Crockett's successor should have "a track record of proven independence" and a high stature in the international financial community.
