Danish central bank buys bust lender

Denmark's central bank has announced a Dkr4.5 billion ($900m) bailout of Roskilde Bank, the country's eighth largest retail bank, in a bid to stem fears that funding problems could spread through the system.

The takeover came about as no offers - domestic or foreign - were received after a thorough sales process for either all or parts of Roskilde Bank, the central bank said, adding that auditing had revealed additional losses in the bank to the extent that it failed to meet solvency requirements
