SNB sell 10.3 tons of gold in latest 10-day period

SWITZERLAND - The Swiss National Bank sold around 10.3 metric tons of surplus gold in the 10-day reporting period ended 31 January, the central bank's regular statistical report showed Friday.

The latest sales brought the total to around 439.1 tons sold since its disposal program began under a 1999 framework agreed among 15 European central banks.

The central bank wants to sell a total of 1,300 tons of surplus gold under the five-year central bank framework. The SNB began sales in May 2000.
