Spain may propose Rato as IMF chief

Rodrigo Rato, former Spanish economy minister after Sunday's election, may be proposed to run the IMF, according to Miguel Sebastian, an economic adviser to Prime Minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Spanish newspapers El Mundo and El Pais named Sebastian as Zapatero's choice to replace Rato as economy minister. Rato, 54, is a member of retiring Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's Popular Party, which unexpectedly lost the election to Zapatero's Socialists after terrorists' bombs killed 200
