Govt not mulling asking BOJ for further easing now

JAPAN - The government isn't considering asking the Bank of Japan to take additional monetary easing measures, top government spokesman Yasuo Fukuda said Wednesday.

The BOJ's policy board will start a two-day policy board meeting Thursday, during which government representatives will be allowed to attend and give their views, although they aren't allowed to participate in voting.

While sources close to the central bank say the BOJ believes further easing would have little effect, financial markets
