Top China economist calls for move on yuan

A top Chinese economist has said the country should make a modest revaluation of the yuan in an attempt to reduce some of the speculation over Beijing's intentions on the currency.

"Even if it doesn't lead to a 100 pct change in expectations about whether or not the yuan has reached an appropriate rate, it will at least encourage some investors to sell off their positions," He Fan, a senior researcher in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said in an editorial in the official China Securities
