IMF, World Bank meetings in 2006 in Singapore

SINGAPORE - The International Monetary Fund and World Bank's annual meetings are likely to attract 15,000 delegates and S$30 million when they are staged at Singapore's Suntec City in 2006.

Organisers say the event will also help put Singapore on the map as a major financial hub that has weathered a tough storm, and provide local businessmen with a multitude of contacts.

Singapore's convention and exhibition industry hit rock-bottom after the September 11 terror attacks.
