Hong Kong's latest foreign currency reserves

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced Friday 7 January that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$123.6 billion at the end of December 2004, up from US$121.5 billion at end-November 2004.

Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of December 2004 also stood at US$123.6 billion (end-November 2004: US$121.5 billion).

In terms of foreign currency reserves ranking, Hong Kong is the world's sixth
