Pakistani governor calls for 'concerted effort' to promote Islamic banking

The governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Yaseen Anwar, yesterday said that concerted efforts are required for enhancing the depth and breadth of the Islamic banking industry in a speech marking the launch of the Mass Media Campaign for Promotion of Islamic banking.

Anwar said: "Growing annually by more than 20%, the Islamic financial industry has spread beyond Muslim countries and is now operative in more than 75 countries with a network of 430 Islamic banks and financial institutions
