Bank of Ghana payments overhaul to focus on fintech
Central bank will ensure regulation is fintech-friendly
The Bank of Ghana will set up a new fintech unit as part of plans to ensure changes to its payment systems framework are accommodative to new technologies.
As part of its new payment systems roadmap, spanning 2019–24, the central bank said it would be establishing a “dedicated unit” to promote and track fintech development by the end of the year.
The central bank also said it would form a fintech “apex body” that will be in charge of co-ordinating information-sharing among relevant official
