“The topic of the renminbi is a crucial one for reserve managers,” says Strauss-Kahn

One of the World Bank’s reserves management experts has urged central banks to tackle the question of how to approach the renminbi as an element of reserves’ portfolios.

Isabelle Strauss-Kahn notes central banks remain cautious towards the Chinese currency, but says “the topic of the renminbi is a crucial one for reserve managers”.

Strauss-Kahn observes central banks have automatically gained some exposure to the renminbi via the International Monetary Fund’s special drawing rights facility.
