Riksbank to add Norwegian and Danish krone to reserves portfolio

Change responds to banks’ liquidity requirements in these Scandinavian currencies

The executive board of Sveriges Riksbank has decided to add the Norwegian and Danish krone to its international reserves portfolio in order to better meet its foreign exchange requirements, the institution said on November 7.

Swedish banks have liquidity requirements in these Scandinavian currencies, and could require the Riksbank to provide support in the event of a liquidity shortage. The modification aims “to ensure the foreign exchange reserves better reflect the currencies the Riksbank
