Netherlands Bank to move gold and banknote operations out of Amsterdam by 2022

The central bank of the Netherlands intends to move its gold storage and banknote operations out of their current location in Amsterdam to a security forces base near Utrecht.

Camp New Amsterdam will house a new "cash centre" for the Netherlands Bank's (DNB) physical currency operations, the bank said in a statement on October 6. The camp houses units from the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, an armed police force under the control of the defence ministry that plays "a key role" in securing the
