ECB lays out plan to green corporate bond portfolios

Central bank will focus on issuer-specific climate scores

The European Central Bank (ECB) presented its plan to green its corporate bond holdings on September 19.

The approach will be based on an issuer-specific climate score that aims to reward companies’ past and present performance CO2 emissions, as well as their future plans to reduce them. The programme aims to trim the Eurosystem’s exposure to climate-related financial risks.
