Bank of Canada stimulus to continue for ‘very long period’ – Macklem
Economic recovery will be “prolonged and bumpy”, governor Tiff Macklem warns
The Bank of Canada will keep purchasing government bonds indefinitely, as the economy faces a long period of recovery, governor Tiff Macklem said in remarks on June 22.
While the new governor expects growth to resume in the third quarter, he cautioned the recovery will be “prolonged and bumpy, with the potential for setbacks along the way”.
