German economic council urges ECB to tighten policy

Group of experts says stronger growth and loose policy could lead to higher financial risk

The German Council of Economic Experts says in its annual report that the European Central Bank should start to make public its plans to normalise its policy and end its bond-buying programme earlier than planned.

The council, which has evaluated the economic policies of the German government since 1963, estimates stronger growth and higher inflation in the eurozone already provide justification for  the ECB to abandon its accommodative monetary policies.
