Policy rate likely to be on hold for some time, Norway’s central bank says

Norway’s central bank left its policy rate unchanged today (January 22) in the first decision to be made under its new decision-making framework.

Norges Bank held its policy rate at 1.5% and stuck with its earlier message that policy will remain on hold for some time. The central bank last changed its policy stance in September, in the fourth of a series of rate hikes in 2019.

The central bank’s new Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Committee has replaced the executive board in governing
