Kenya not yet ready for more accommodative policy – Njoroge

Central Bank of Kenya leaves rates on hold despite well-anchored inflation and greater optimism

Policymakers at the Central Bank of Kenya mulled adopting a more accommodative stance when they met on January 22, but decided to see how earlier actions play out before an interest rate cut could be on the cards.

“The committee noted that there was some room for accommodative monetary policy in the near term, as well as the risk of perverse outcomes,” Patrick Njoroge said in a statement published after the meeting.
