Draghi becomes latest target of Trump’s ire
Dovish comments at ECB conference draw accusation of manipulation from US president
US president Donald Trump lashed out at Mario Draghi today (June 18), after the European Central Bank president promised more stimulus was ready if needed.
“In the absence of improvement, such that the sustained return of inflation to our aim is threatened, additional stimulus will be required,” Draghi said at the ECB’s Sintra conference.
He said further cuts to interest rates remain “part of our tools” and added that the asset purchase programme still had “considerable headroom”. He also said
