Peru unexpectedly pauses easing cycle
Central bank expresses hawkishness, though policy rate still among lowest in Latin America
Peru’s central bank yesterday (October 10) held its policy rate at 5.25%.
In a statement, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) said year-on-year headline inflation had fallen from 2% in August to 1.8% in September. It said core inflation had dropped from 2.8% to 2.6% over the same period.
