Food prices remain a risk to disinflation – RBI research

Food prices remain high and pose a potential risk to disinflation, researchers from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) say in an article published on April 23.

The findings echo concerns voiced by governor Shaktikanta Das earlier this month when he cautioned against excessive optimism, as food prices remained a threat.

The researchers say food prices need to be monitored carefully through the summer until the south-west monsoon arrives and relieves pressure on prices.
