Lagarde warns against excessive tightening
Eurozone inflation declined sharply in May from 7% to 6.1% and core inflation declined to 5.3%

Official statistics released today showing headline eurozone inflation falling more than expected may reinforce the case for a more cautious approach to rate increases. The figures from the European Union’s statistical agency Eurostat showed inflation reaching 6.1% in May, from 7% in April.
