Richmond Fed president Tom Barkin not convinced inflation concerns warrant a cut

Senior Federal Reserve officials are still divided on inflation and what the appropriate US monetary policy should be.

In July 11 speeches, Richmond and Atlanta Fed presidents Tom Barkin and Raphael Bostic said they were not convinced by inflation concerns. Fed governor Lael Brainard, however, argued a lower expected path of inflation would be prudent risk management, given inflation is on the “soft side”.
