Falling offshore borrowing has helped shield Australia – RBA official
RBA’s monetary policy has not followed Fed’s normalisation
Lower offshore borrowing by Australian banks has helped reduce the influence of international factors on national financial conditions, a senior official at the country’s central bank said.
In a speech in Sydney today (December 10), Christopher Kent, assistant governor of financial markets at the Reserve Bank of Australia, also stressed the RBA’s independent monetary policy to achieve that goal.
