Inflation expectations down in ECB forecaster survey

Forecasters see inflation falling slightly, despite rising employment and GDP growth

Professional forecasters’ estimates of future eurozone inflation rates have fallen, according to the European Central Bank.

This is despite improvements in the same forecasters’ expectations for GDP and employment growth in the eurozone, the ECB said in its latest professional forecasters’ survey, published today (July 21). The apparent belief among those surveyed that inflation will fall slightly, despite improvements in GDP growth and unemployment, may well concern senior ECB figures.
