Governor says Turkish economy is more resilient to external shocks

Defensive measures have braced the Turkish economy against spillovers from interest rate hikes abroad, governor Erdem Başçı said today (December 9), as he unveiled the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (CBRT) 2016 monetary policy plan.

With the prospect of a hike in interest rates by the Federal Reserve growing ever more likely, the CBRT moved early, unveiling a "roadmap" of measures in August to be implemented before, during and after policy normalisation in advanced countries.
