Economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York explain the process of briefing president William Dudley ahead of Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings in a blog post published on August 14.

The New York Fed's director of research, Jamie McAndrews, and a group of other senior researchers write that at the start of the "FOMC cycle" they produce the "Whitebook", an internal document setting out their hypotheses regarding the major developments that will inform the policy outlook. This
