Navigating an exit from accommodative policy is ‘an art and not a science’

Central bankers, academics and representatives from the private sector debated "the art" of weaning markets off accommodative monetary policy at a financial regulation forum held in London today.

The event, hosted by the Centre for Economic Policy Research and held under the Chatham House Rule, focused on the impact of the low interest-rate environment on financial markets and the challenges central banks will face when withdrawing their unconventional policies.

One participant stressed that
